Client Review & Mothers Room
I’m a Construction Project Manager. I work for a General Contractor in our Data and Technology market. It’s what I went to college for and have spent the past 10 years pursing and growing my career in.
I’m also a new mom with a 4 month old baby boy. I’m still nursing. (a whole other story I’ll post to Life) This means use the Mother’s Room every 3 or so hours to pump. It’s honestly a nice little break, I check emails, read meeting notes, do some research, etc.
Well this week we had a Performance Review with one of our clients. This meant I got dressed up and went to our main office in Atlanta. I typically work out of an office on site and wear jeans, boots and a sweater. So this meeting was a fun excuse to pull out my business professional clothes for the first time post partum.
What I didn’t take into account was the performance review would have sessions longer than 3 hours, so I was going to be stretching my pumping schedule. Even better, I wore a satin shirt. Luckily I was able to rush to the mothers room before I soaked my entire shirt! Awkward. But also hilarious.
The review went well and I didn’t leak on my nice clothes. So win win!
I found joy in the coconut water stocked in the drinks cooler at work. Fun little treat and much needed hydration during pumping.
I found gratitude in myself for the hard work I’ve put in that earned have a seat and voice at the table.
